News flash – pay attention, all you diehard Tancredo supporters: Tancredo has announced that he’s willing to talk about a guest worker program after all! In other words, he’s willing to discuss an amnesty program!
The Austin American-Statesman reported that Tancredo said:
“if I see we’re truly enforcing the law…I’d be willing to talk about a potential guest worker program.”
Tancredo’s statement was a recognition that the political climate has changed, and that a guest worker program now has broad support in Congress and the White House.
So… Once again Tancredo betrays his most fervent supporters due to political expediency, after first selling them a bill of goods that he is the True Believer they need to rally around. First it was term limits, for which he was the leading proponent until he declared that “God” had told him to break his term limits pledge in order to fight illegal immigration, and now it is illegal immigration itself, for which he used to be the diehard against an amnesty program out of concern for “radical multiculturalism.”
All you neo-Nazis, racial purists, Southern secessionists, Tantonites, etc. – all you people who have written to me privately saying “f*** the immigrants” and other vile comments – well, you had better find another Poster Boy to support, because Tancredo is about to sell you down the river as well. You can join his disillusioned former friends in the term limits movement.
